City of Refuge Bible Study Center

Program Brief

APHI administers the City of Refuge Bible Study Center (The BSC). The Center provides individuals with the opportunity to learn and improve their competence in the Word of God. By the power of the Holy Spirit, the Center facilitates Bible-based education that edifies/enables/refreshes/encourages/comforts participants and equips them to worship God acceptably and partake of the benefits of Christianity. Participants at the Center are expected to become advocates for the Word of God in their communities, able to:

  • read, understand, and correctly interpret the Scriptures
  • use Scriptures to frame operations and interpret experience
  • competently present the Word of God to persons of other- or no-faith in their communities
  • be more confident about their life’s journey
  • being better grounded in the Word of God, they receive a sense of wholeness and peace

There is trouble, chaos, bitterness, hatred, and selfishness in our world today. These problems exist because people have ignored what is important to chase shadows. The Scriptures tells us that studying, meditating on, and keeping the Word of God are indispensable to finding good success (Joshua 1:8), which then leads to tremendous joy and a life of peace. Bad success leads to sorrow, chaos & bad judgement, which may prompt individuals to hurt themselves or hurt others. The knowledge of the Word of God predisposes individual to living meaningful and qualitative lives. Jesus said, ‘… learn from me and you will find rest for your souls …’ (Matthew 11:29). Learning from Jesus brings wholeness to the body, soul, and spirit, helping individuals to overcome personal frustrations and societal crises. Learning the Word is the principal way to learn from Jesus. The Word is Christ revealed (Psalm 107:20).

The Word of God is also capable of impacting skills useful for excelling in professional and political arena. The Word gives light to all who receive it and understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130). It is spoken by 2.38 billion of the 7.8 billion people in the World, which is 31.11% of the world population today. By this statistic, the Scripture is the most widespread language in the entire World. Those who know it are better able to operate and navigate the World and make decisions that are authentic, relevant, humane, and impactful than individuals who do not have this competence. Everyone deserves to learn this language – the WORD of God. The more widespread the WORD and the deeper individuals are in their cognition of it, the more competent they are to apply it to personal/professional development & to effectuate societal peace. This WORD is what we teach at the City of Refuge Bible Study Center.
